ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Dr. Romero holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics from the University of California-Berkeley and completed the Energy Innovation and Emerging Technologies program at Stanford University. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, focusing on characterization of the Yucca Mountain nuclear repository site. He earned his B.S. in Physics from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. He currently holds a Geoscientist Affiliate position at the Berkeley National Laboratory where his research includes nuclear site studies and clean energy transition. Dr. Romero is the lead inventor on two (2) U.S. patents and has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed papers in major scientific journals.

BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND/ EXPERIENCE
Dr. Romero brings over 28 years of multinational oil and gas experience across ExxonMobil, Chevron, and Unocal, holding progressive roles as a seismic geophysicist, exploration geoscientist, and senior consultant. He was instrumental in booking significant hydrocarbon resources in Sakhalin, Angola, Java and Gulf of Mexico accomplished through direct technical contributions and leadership of subsurface project teams. Dr. Romero was appointed as a Balik Scientist at the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute, where he led a volcanic and seismic hazards assessment of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant site. As Subsurface Manager, Dr. Romero directed Pre-FEED field development planning for Angola LNG and evaluated strategic opportunities in the South China Sea, negotiating to secure offshore blocks for new ventures and exploration programs.
